HATHA YOGA EXERCISES
Hatha Yoga uses precise physical postures (Asana) and controlled breathing (Pranayama) to awaken vast resources of energy and unite the body with the mind. Its purpose is to physically prepare the body and mind and purify the practitioner for advancing on the spiritual path. Asanas, though appearing motionless from the outside, are internally fluid and dynamic states. When the pose is steady, comfortable and becomes a seat for meditation, Asana has been achieved. Breath is our way into the pose and sustains the movements of the body and mind. If practiced correctly, along with deep breathing and concentration of mind, one hour of Asana practice will give one hour of exercise, one hour of deep breathing and relaxation, and one hour of meditation, all in one. The Yoga system of exercises known as Asanas can be compared to no other in its complete overhaul and restoration of the entire being. Hatha Yoga improves overall vitality, lung capacity and muscle tone; functions of the internal organs, hormonal and nervous systems; and bestows radiant health to anyone who practices its teachings. Hatha Yoga is returning to your natural state of being: perfect health!
