PRANAYAMA BREATHING (13-Sessions)
One of the skills that we practice in Yoga is learning how to breathe. As we learn to control the inhale, exhale and retention of the breath consciously, we work upon muscles that unconsciously control breathing. This is the way that human beings are able to change their own nervous systems and DNA and evolve their minds. The breath is the connection between the physical and mental. The body is the beginning of the mind and the mind is the end of the body. Indeed, life and Yoga are summarized by the breath. We can go without food or water for several days or weeks, but if deprived of breath, we die in minutes. If the motion of the lungs is stopped, all other energies and movements in the body will stop automatically. The grosser energies act through the breathing mechanism while the subtler ones exert in the mental plane. In order to control the subtle Prana, i.e. the mind and thoughts, the Yogi begins by controlling the breath. The mind is affected in every moment by what it sees, hears and experiences through the senses. To gain control over the Prana, mind and senses, and to enjoy boundless vitality and radiant health, Yoga prescribes Pranayama!
