SYSTEMATIC RELAXATION (4-Parts)
Relaxation commences with the body, then unveils the mind, enlivens the heart, and frees the soul. Therefore, there are three aspects of relaxation: 1) Relaxation of the body. 2) Relaxation of the mind. 3) Relaxation of the heart (spirit). A practitioner of relaxation should educate the body so that it can house a joyous and fulfilled mind, and be a constant channel for the blissful expressions of the soul. Proper conditions must be promoted in the physical body by the practice of relaxation so that the mind is allow to rise to an elevated state. And in turn, a higher-conscious state of mind continues to bring success in efforts to relax the body. An understanding of the intimate relationship between the body and mind is very important for the practice of relaxation. Yoga presents the art of conserving energy while always being in service, and recharging it whenever needed. Though intensely involved in any action, a Yogi can engage in the rush of activity and then completely resign to the joyous breeze of relaxation blowing from the sea of Eternity within them. Just as a swan can shake off all the water, leave behind the lake and soar in the vast sky, a relaxed person can shake off the waters of activity by a mere act of will and experience profound relaxation.
